on Jan 3rd, 2007Windows Vista Review – The Experience
I am just returning after checking out Windows Vista and boy does it rock or what
I have been reading a lot of articles abotu vista and its good and the bad features, but nothing could have prepared me for what I saw. The UI is just totally commendable and is really really fresh. I just love the 3D window switching feature. The search functionality was also soothing to see, as results kept showing up on incomplete words, compare that to the age old search, where one had to wait for aeons to see a result.
I also tried the tagging feature i read somewhere, though pretty primitive in its implementation, it definetely worked. Honestly I think the first service pack must emphasize more on this feature as tagging is the most sure shot way of organising things.
I have heard a lot of praises for the mac book pro and yet to be released Panther, but here in India Windows dominates . I dont know a single person who owns a mac, so we are left with the only option of using windows or some other free OS flavors. All in all vista was a treat to the eyes, it has tremendous potential to be big and will definetely control the market for the next 5 to 10 years. Here is wishing Microsoft best of luck on its newest and best offering.
Office 2007 was also on display and I didnt get to check out the new blogging feature that comes built in. I saw the option and I guess it can attach itself to multiple blogs just like the other publishing tools. Also I noticed a big paradigm shift in the menu bar feature, all teh menus are now replaced by icons which achieve the same result. Vista will take some getting used to, but its worth it.
