One of my very good friends from college, Santosh, has just started a portal Grandmentor. It is a one stop portal for all information on studies abroad. It covers all streams and not only the courses, but also other essentials like insurance, loans, finance etc. Joomla in the backend, this site will be a promising portal for the moolah hungry youth of today, who are ever anxiously eyeing top schools in the US of A and also other countries like UK, Austratlia and Germany.
The second release of the portal is slated for february 07 and will consist of a listing of all colleges, courses and much more. One advice for grandmentor would definitely be to focus on user content. Alumnus members do tend to help out would be students and also students scour up the internet to find every last resource they can find on a certain school. I would really like to see a wiki like paradigm for this , with users writing into a repository like environment.
